Ideas for Referral Incentives
- The After-Sale Mailer - This also works as a good "leave-behind". Create a Welcome Kit for new customers with your contact information (magnets are great for this!), any documentation/information you need to get to your new customer, and a referral card offering a gift when the referral becomes a customer. Depending on your "purchase" price, gifts could range from roadside safety tools, a Swiss Army tool or a Brookstone gift like a wireless speaker or wine aerator. For some extra "oomph", make sure to promote the referral program on your Facebook page and your website! (great for Insurance and Financial Services)
- Building on Loyalty Programs - Reward your loyal customers with a "just for you" coupon, along with an extra discount/coupon to share with a friend, all on a handy magnet that can be given out or mailed a few weeks before the discount/sale starts.
- End Of Year Gift - If you're already considering end of year gifts for your customers, use this as a time to ask for a referral as part of the wording on the card accompanying your gift or as a follow-up call or email after the gift would have arrived (Example: I really hope you enjoy the gift. If you would like to return the sentiment, the greatest gift you can give me is a referral to a colleague).
